Emmanuelle Seigner on Sunday rejected an invitation to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, in a column in which she slammed the “hypocrisy” of a group that expelled her husband Roman Polanski two months ago.
Roman Polanski continued attracting A-list talent for his films, A-list support for his freedom and had become a contradictory and uncomfortable symbol of an industry that seemed to pick and choose where to bestow its moral outrage.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon ruled that Polanski must return to California if he expects to resolve charges of sexually abusing a teen. The Oscar winner fled the country on the eve of sentencing in 1978.
Director Roman Polanski has been accused of sexual assault conducted in 1973 by a 59-year-old woman when she was minor. It happened in South California and the allegation was reported to law enforcement early this year as reported by Xinhua news agency.
Polanski is wanted in the US in a case involving sex with a minor that has haunted him for almost 40 years.
