Within hours of Rajat Sharma's resignation, CEO Ravi Chopra also put in his papers. The two-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Sunil Valson and Yashpal Sharma also tendered resignation.
More than 100 objections, from various associations, have been sent to the BCCI’s electoral officer N Gopalaswami on issues ranging from AGM representative, elections conducted in associations, and other issues.
Joint Secretary Rajan Manchanda said that there was never any doubt over Sharma being their representative in the BCCI. “It’s unfortunate that some people started a negative campaign with their own vested interests in mind, thus tarnishing DDCA’s image.”
The DDCA only leases the land. After first making the announcement, Sharma had to clarify later that the name of the ground remained unchanged, only the stadium was named after the former president of the DDCA, who was responsible for remodelling and modernising the stadium.
