Ahmedabad/Bengaluru/Mumbai, Feb 18 (ANI): The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad members in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata took to streets to protest against the 'anti-national' sentiments that have risen from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Members of ABVP from Ahmedabad raised slogans against those who supported the anti-national elements in JNU. An ABVP leader said they will continue their protests till the anti-nationalists are punished. In Bengaluru, the student took out a 'Tricolor march'. A protestor of ABVP in Bengaluru said they condemn the act of central universities rising to support the anti-national slogans raised in JNU. In Kolkata, ABVP members were seen raising slogans against the anti-national elements.
Kolkata, Feb 17 (ANI): Jadavpur University students staged a protest on Wednesday inside the university campus condemning the anti-national activities at Jawaharlal Nehru University One of the protestors said they are against every activity which hurts the sentiment of Indians. Students raised slogans of 'Vande Matram'and held up posters which said they belonged to JNU but don’t support anti-state activities.
New Delhi, Feb 17 (ANI): The Delhi Police on Wednesday detained protesting National Students Union of India (NSUI) workers for shouting anti-BJP slogans. They also torched BJP flags and an effigy representing the ruling party. One of the protestors criticised the Centre for punishing the innocents and allowing the guilty to escape punitive action.
New Delhi, Feb 15 (ANI): Students and teachers on Monday staged a protest outside Jawaharlal Nehru University’s Vice Chancellor office. The protestors demanded suitable actions against the culprits to maintain peaceful environment on the campus. One of the protestors said the established committee must take a final decision on the anti-nationalists and final verdict should not be influenced by any political party or any dignitary.
New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Locals residents on Friday staged a protest outside the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus in the national capital against the organising of a meet to “mourn” the hanging of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and JKLF cofounder Maqbool Bhat. One of the protestors, who is also a teacher, said the act is intolerable and unacceptable in a country like India.
New Delhi, Feb 10 (ANI): The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members staged a protest outside the office of Jawaharlal Nehru University ( JNU) Vice Chancellor on Wednesday to vent their ire over a programme describing the execution of 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru as 'judicial killing'. The varsity witnessed violent clashes between two students groups last night over this programme, following which the police personnel were deployed to maintain the law and order situation on the campus. The incident was followed by the cultural evening organised at the Sabarmati Dhaba by ten students, who were earlier members of the Democratic Students' Union (DSU). The ABVP has also demanded that the ten students behind the event must be rusticated with immediate effect. One of the protestors said they are protesting against the "anti-national" activity on the campus and strict actions should be taken.
Ranchi, Feb 10 (ANI): Local residents in Ranchi staged a protest against the school management of Sapphire International School over the death of a 13-year-old student, Vinay, who was found dead in school premises under mysterious circumstances. The irked protestors raised slogans against the school authority. One of the protestors said that six days have passed since Vinay's death, but no action has been taken by the police. They also stated that the police are trying to protect the culprits.
New Delhi, Jan 27 (ANI): Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) workers protested outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence over non-payment of dues, which are due for months. It is resulting in immense financial burden on them. This is for the second time this month that the MCD employees are on a strike. The MCD officials said as a result of the protest, MCD services will be affected for some days. The cash-strapped North and East Delhi civic bodies have been unable to pay salaries to workers for three to four months now. There are over one lakh sanitation workers waiting for their salaries.
New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): Jawaharlal Nehru University students sat on hunger strike to protest against the Dalit scholar's suicide at the University of Hyderabad. One of protestors said they want the accused politicos to resign as soon as possible.
Hyderabad, Jan 24 (ANI): Demanding justice for Dalit scholar, Rohith Vemula, who committed suicide, students of Hyderabad Central University on Sunday went on an indefinite hunger strike here. Students’ Joint Action Committee has planned a ‘Chalo HCU' campaign tomorrow. The protesting students said they were raising their voice against the government and would continue to do so until justice was delivered. National Students Union of India (NSUI) president Roji M. John, who met Rohith's mother, said the issue was related to the student community and NSUI would continue to fight for Rohith Vemula.
