Pothuganti Ramulu, an Indian politician and a member of parliament representing the Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana, has made significant contributions to the state’s political landscape. Born on August 17, 1952, in Gunduru Village, Kalwakurthi Mandal, Ramulu’s journey reflects dedication and resilience.
Ramulu’s educational path took him from Gunduru Village to post-graduation. He served as a government teacher for 16 years before venturing into politics in 1994. Inspired by Ex. Minister Mahendranath, who previously represented Achampet in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Ramulu joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). His political career took off as he was elected as an MLA thrice from the Achampet Assembly constituency in the 1994, 1999, and 2009 elections. Notably, he held the position of Sports and Youth Services Minister in N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Cabinet.
With the formation of Telangana state, Ramulu shifted his allegiance to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) (then TRS) and now ahead of 2024 General Elections, Ramulu has joined BJP.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he emerged victorious as an MP from Nagarkurnool. His commitment to public service remains unwavering. Recently, on February 29, 2024, Ramulu joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), along with other BRS leaders, in the presence of Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekhar.
