Threat of 'fall armyworm' growing in Manipur

Manipur Chief Secretary J. Suresh Babu convened an emergency meeting Friday to discuss the prevailing situation and take measures to control the menace effectively.

“Its rapid spread is due to the female moth being a strong flier capable of flying 100 km in a night and being an exotic insect, the absence of natural enemies that could keep them under check," Indian Council of Agricultural Research stated.

Pest attack threatens paddy crop in parts of Doaba
