The government has not made any provision in the budget to bring down inflation in the state which is “passing through a slowdown, where incomes, and industrial and agricultural production has fallen, Dhanani said
In the letter, Dhanani said the state government had sold 4,725 hectares of pastoral land to wealthy businessmen. “According to information provided by the government on 27, August 2015 in the Assembly, 2,625 villages in Gujarat had no pastures for animals. In 2017, the figure reached 2,754,” Dhanani wrote.
The Congress had performed well in the 2017 elections in Gujarat, restricting the BJP to just 99 seats out of the total 182, and increasing its tally to 77 from 58 in 2012. After winning the Amreli legislative seat in 2017, Dhanani was chosen as Leader of Opposition in the Gujarat assembly.
"Both Amit Chavda and Paresh Dhanani, along with many other senior leaders, have been summoned to Delhi for consultations on the issue of preparing strategy for rural and urban seats for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls," a senior Congress leader told The Sunday Express.
Addressing a farmers’ dharna in Rajkot city, Dhanani alleged that there was a largescale corruption in the procurement of groundnut in the state by government, and the procurement was done merely to assuage the anger of farmers ahead of the Assembly polls last year.
Congress Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani hit back at the Vijay Rupani BJP government saying it was neglecting farmers in Gujarat as they had been forced to throw their produce on the roads while the government is trying to crush their protest.
“Govt’s promise of withdrawing cases against Patidar youth during the quota agitation, writing off farm loans, the rise in petroleum prices and water crisis in the state need to be discussed,” says Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani.
Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani, who had moved the resolution for the party, said that the party shadow cabinet will ensure effective fight against the “power government” with “people’s government”.
