During the resumed hearing of PU’s appeal against a single bench decision restoring Nahar’s position as DSW, the division bench of Justices Rakesh Kumar Jain and Arun Kumar Tyagi said it was an open fight among the Senators and V-C
ABVP, which had only one candidate contesting the presidential post last time, had swept in a huge number of votes. Their candidate, Ashish Rana, had lost only by a small margin to SFS candidate Kanupriya.
On the day of the election, the students are supposed to carry their university ID cards without which they will not be allowed to enter inside the campus. The students are supposed to enter their respective departments by 9:30 am, after which the entry to the departments is stopped.
Recently, the university’s vice-chancellor had appointed Prof Jagat Bhushan as the new DSW. He will be handling the DSW charge as an additional duty, along with his duties as the Principal and Professor of the Dental Science department of Panjab University.
All hell broke loose as Senators accused the V-C of breaking the varsity rules. They claimed that it would lead to an unprecedented situation of the PU student council elections being held without any deans of student welfare.
