O Pannerselvam

O. Panneerselvam is the current chief minister of Tamil Nadu and a member of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). He swore into the role on December 6, 2016, in the aftermath of the death of later chief minister, Jayalalithaa. This is his third term as chief minister of the state. Last two times he held the position were in 2001-02 and 2014-15. On both these ocassions he replaced Jayalalithaa who was barred to take on the role by the courts. Panneerselvam's initiation into politics happened in 1996 when he became the chairman of Periyakulam municipality. A staunch loyalist of Jayalalithaa, Panneerselvam refused to occupy the late AIDMK leader's seat in office after her death and instead kept a picture of her on it.
