A statement released by the state government on Thursday night said the core committee headed by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani decided to continue with the ongoing curfew from 10 pm to 6 am in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Junagadh, Jamnagar and Gandhinagar.

Chandigarh had implemented a night curfew, between 6pm and 5am, on April 7 to arrest the spread of Covid-19 in the region.

Currently, 36 cities of Gujarat including four metropolitan cities --Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara -- are under night curfew from 8 pm to 6 am on a daily basis, whose notification order was supposed to end on May 18, 6 am.

According to Gujarat Police, as many as 1,572 cases were registered and 1,360 persons were arrested across the state on April 7 for violation of the night curfew notification under Indian Penal code section 188.

“Night curfew from 10 pm to 5 am every day from April 10 to April 20 will be imposed in Bengaluru, Mysore, Mangalore, Kalaburagi, Bidar, Tumkur and Udupi-Manipal,” Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa said.
