On May 17, the CBI had moved the High Court seeking recall of a special CBI judge’s order granting bail to four TMC leaders in the Narada case and sought the transfer of the case from the CBI court to the High Court itself.

Advocate General Kishore Dutta told the five-judge bench of the High Court: “This matter (CBI's plea for transfer of case) should not have been heard by a Division Bench of the High Court. It does not have jurisdiction as per appellate rules or letters patent to hear this matter."
