While taking permission of the Delhi High Court to close the case, the agency which began their probe in May last year had said all aspects were looked into but it could not find any trace of an offence.
“This is a political case. The CBI has succumbed to political pressure,” Senior advocate Colin Gonsalves, appearing for Ahmad’s mother Fatima Nafees said, urging that they be given the status report in order to examine the kind of investigation done in the matter.
Najeeb’s mother Fatima Nafees had moved the court on November 25, 2017, seeking directions to the government and police to trace him. As Delhi Police remained clueless about his whereabouts, the probe was handed over to the CBI on May 16 last year.
