Sriharan alias Murugan,T Suthendraraja alias Santhan and A G Perarivalan alias Arivu had separately petitioned the Madras High Court shortly after the President dismissed their mercy petitions last year,after a delay of almost a decade.
Chennai, Feb 24 (ANI): Nalini Sriharan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, left the Vellore jail on Wednesday to attend her father's last rites in Chennai. She was escorted by ten cops. Nalini was granted parole on Tuesday for 12 hours to attend her father's funeral, who died in Tirunelvelli. According to the parole condition, Nalini will have to report back in Vellore prison before 8 p.m. today. Nalini and three others, including her husband Murugan, were originally awarded the death sentence after they were convicted for their role in the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and have been behind the bars for the last 25 years.
