Murali Vijay

Murali Vijay had a stop-start career on the International stage. His earliest call ups because of his penchant for scoring big in first class cricket, most prominently a 462-run opening stand with Abhinav Mukund. Vijay had trouble getting into the international set up ever since partly due to the presence of Gautam Gambhir and due to his sliding form in the IPL. When he was given another call up against Australia 2012-13, it was deemed as a gamble. It paid off as Vijay scored back to back 150s. He may still be a reserve player in ODIs but he has cemented position in Tests since 2014-15 tour of Australia in which he was second highest run scorer for India after Virat Kohli.
