The NIA filed a charge sheet against 16 accused persons on March 14, 2022, and the first supplementary charge sheet against nine accused persons on August 29, last year.

In a statement, the NIA said Sushanta Sarkar, a businessman from Malda district of West Bengal, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the illegal supply of heroin into India for supporting terrorist activities.

The agency has claimed that the network, operated by Daad brothers of Afghanistan, sent five drug consignments between November 2020 and September 2021, which were all processed in Delhi and then sent to other parts of the country, including Punjab.
