New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): With the Army taking control of Munak Canal in Haryana, Delhi Water Minister Kapil Mishra on Monday expressed hope that water supply could be partially restored by late evening in the national capital. He also informed that the Delhi Jal Board team is on its way to the Munak Canal, which was earlier seized by Jat community members, demanding reservation in government jobs.

New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): With the Army taking control of Munak Canal in Haryana, the water supply in Delhi could be partially restored by late Monday evening. The Munak canal, which carries 543 million gallons of water per day from the Yamuna to the city, was besieged by Jat protesters demanding reservation in government jobs and educational institutions. The Supreme Court would also be hearing Delhi government's petition seeking Centre's intervention for the uninterrupted supply of water.

Haryana, Feb 21 (ANI): With the protests by Jats demanding Other Backward Classes (OBC) status entered the seventh day on Sunday, several parts of Haryana remained under curfew while 12 people have been killed so far. The agitation disrupted major highways and rail traffic in large parts of the state after protestors took to the streets. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda sat on a fast at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi appealing to the protesting Jat Community to maintain law and order and call off the agitation. Security forces were deployed at the Munak Canal and various other national highways connecting Haryana with other states after protestors refused to allow the passage function normally.

Delhi-Haryana Border, Feb 21 (ANI): The security forces on Sunday used tear gas shells to disperse protestors at the Munak Canal on the Delhi-Haryana border amid the ongoing pro-reservation protest by the Jat community. The security personnel deployed on the site are trying to remove the agitators, who are protesting from the last seven days. The Jat protestors have also blocked NH 8 near Jaisinghpur Khera of Rewari district. Meanwhile, the police baton charged the protestors, who have blocked the NH 2 in Faridabad. At least 10 people have been killed and 150 injured as protests by the Jat community in Haryana demanding status for Other Backward Classes (OBC) continued for the seventh day.
