The incident happened in the early hours of August 19 when Nashik-based medical professional Chetan Ahirrao (35) was standing on the footboard of a Central Railway local train while on his way to Diva station in neighbouring Thane district, the official said.
"Ever since the local train left Borivali station, we found that the coach was not cooling. Initially, we thought that the AC would start soon. But despite crossing few stations on the way, there was no sign of it," a passenger said
The local makes 12 trips in a day and ferries close to 1,300 passengers daily. While it continues to carry less than half of its carrying capacity, it receives a good number of passengers in peak hours.
