BJP MP apologises for mocking farmers' suicide issue

Mumbai, Feb 18 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gopal Shetty from Maharashtra, who mocked the farmers' suicide issue by calling it a "fashion trend", on Thursday, clarified his stand by saying that rather than giving compensation to farmers, state governments should investigate the matter first. He added that there is a competition going on to give compensation to farmers. He further said he is ready apologise but he wanted his message to go in a positive way. According to reports, Shetty told a leading TV channel, "Not all farmers' suicides happen due to unemployment and starvation. A fashion is going on. A trend is on."

Kochi, Jan 22 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday stated that Congress MP Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar's died “due to poison”. He added that she died due to an overdose of anti-anxiety drug, Alprax, which if given in high dose, causes heart failure. He further said that Tharoor statement to the police was contradictory, which shows that he is hiding something, and now he has become the prime suspect in the investigation.
