The MMRC on Wednesday moved an application before the committee, comprising Justice S S Khemkar and Justice B R Gavai, seeking permission to work through the night for the next two months at the Metro station site at Cuffe Parade.
THE MUMBAI Metro Rail Corporation’s (MMRC) plan to make up for the delay in the construction of the Metro 3 corridor has necessitated the rehabilitation of 144 more families belonging to two housing societies near the proposed Girgaon station.
Among the risks faced by labourers during the construction of the 33.5-km underground Metro are external environmental risks such as fire or explosion, operations-related risks such as exposure to high decibel sounds and equipment failure risks such as loss of lighting, communication or ventilation.
The committee, which surveyed around 700 transplanted trees, submitted the report to the High Court on Tuesday in its fourth meeting. The report was prepared after members of the committee visited the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ alignment and 16 transplantation sites across the city.
