The Rajya Sabha MP was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals in Madurai for a check-up, a party statement said. Vaiko would be taking rest based on the advice of doctors treating him at the hospital, it added.
Vaiko made the dramatic assertion while reacting to a question from reporters here on Monday on film star Rajinikanth lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for junking the special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The MDMK on Thursday announced that those who wish to take a selfie with the popular Tamil leader may pay at least Rs 100. The party has one more appeal for its followers — avoid presenting shawls to Vaiko and contribute a small amount instead when they greet him on stage.
Vaiko, a Rajya Sabha member, submitted that the trial court erroneously rested its conclusion based on inadmissible evidence. He referred to the order of the lower court and said the proof of guilt of the accused is very much on the prosecution.
With the election of these MPs, the strength of DMK along with its alliance would increase to seven from the current four in the parliament. For AIADMK, the number of MPs would decrease from 12 to 11 in the Upper House.
While Vaiko hit out at Modi for contiuously "betraying" the interests of Tamil Nadu, a woman, believed to be a BJP office-bearer, sneaked into the protest venue, raised slogans and posed a question to him.
