Manickam Tagore biography

Manickam Tagore is a political leader from Tamil Nadu and a member of the Indian National Congress. He is the incumbent Member of Parliament from Virudhunagar constituency. He was born on June 1, 1975, in Sivaganaga, Tamil Nadu, to his parents, Baheeratha Nachiappan and Kowsalya. He completed his BA in LLB from Bangalore University, Karnataka.

In 1994, he began his political career as the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) District General Secretary. After that, in 1996, he was the General Secretary of the NSUI, Tamil Nadu, and in 1997, of the NSUI, All India. He was named Vice President of the All India NSUI in 1999.

He was the Indian Youth Congress's general secretary between 2003 and 2005. In 2006, he served as the Chairman of the Central Election Authority. In 2008, he was the Indian Youth Congress's Election Commissioner.
