220 manhole covers stolen between January and June this year: BMC data

The civic body's data show that out of the total manhole covers that were stolen, 13 each were from the K/West (Andheri West) and K/East (Andheri East) wards, 32 in R/Central (Borivali) ward, 16 in D-ward (Malabar Hill).

BMC launches helpline to register plaints of missing manhole covers

The BMC's move comes days after two men drowned after falling into a manhole of an overflowing drainage at Govandi on Saturday evening.

A senior police officer said, “The four persons have been arrested for not taking necessary safety measures which has cost the lives of two individuals. We are probing the matter further to check whether more persons are involved.”
