"I am thankful to the Almighty. The person who ruined my life has to face the wrath of God finally. God has his ways to do justice," said Farooq Ahmed Dar, an artisan, who had been used as a 'human shield' by Major Gogoi last year.
The Court of Inquiry, sources said, indicted Major Gogoi guilty on at least two counts: being away from the place of duty while on active service in an operational area and for violating the official Army policy on fraternising with a local woman “source”.
Major Gogoi Wednesday had arrived at a Srinagar hotel with a young woman and a man named Sameer Ahmed. The staff refused to let the woman inside, claiming she was a resident of the area, over which an altercation erupted.
