New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jatin Narwal on Tuesday asserted that former Delhi University lecturer SAR Geelani has been arrested under sections 124A, 120B and 149 in connection with raising anti-India slogans in the Press Club of India. He added that the investigation is underway regarding the same. Geelani was arrested at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday following sedition charges at an event held on February 10.

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): Reacting over the arrest of former Delhi University lecturer SAR Geelani, Congress leader P.C. Chacko said the police cannot act in disproportionate manner. He added that before arresting the lecturer, police should assure whether he was involved in the incident or not. He further said that the police should not proceed without clear evidence as the action was taken in a hurry. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nalin Kohli said any issue that involves violence is not right and should be seen by the court of law. He added that the incident happened on Monday evening should be investigated thoroughly as this was already said by the Delhi police commissioner.

Former DU lecturer to be produced in Delhi court over anti-India slogan row

New Delhi, Feb 16 (ANI): Former Delhi University lecturer SAR Geelani who was detained by police yesterday over anti-India slogans during an event at Press Club of India on February 10, will be produced before a Delhi Court on Tuesday.Geelani was taken to RML Hospital for medical test in early morning hours.
