Haryana state chief added that fake news is spread both “directly and in a twisted way”, with the latter being news that “does not seem like it is being spread by BJP”. “It is not a straight political attack and influences people’s minds in a twisted way,” she said.
“(Sonia Gandhi) is only interim president... (Rahul’s resignation) put party in a situation, and so we thought her experience will help us... There is a timeline (for election of new chief)," said Kumari Selja.
Selja and Hooda are currently covering all 10 parliamentary constituencies across Haryana. There is a total of 90 Assembly segments in the state that is due for Vidhan Sabha polls next month. Congress lost all 10 parliamentary seats to BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
In a bid to end factionalism in Haryana, the Congress earlier this week named Selja as state party chief and appointed former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda head of the election management committee.
Kumari Selja will replace Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ashok Tanwar. Bhupinder Singh Hooda has been made Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and chairman of the party election committee.
