Nepal, Jan 23 (ANI): A day after three persons were killed in police firing in Rangeli Bazaar, enraged activists took to the streets, burning tyres and obstructing vehicular movement along the Biratnagar-Rangeli road. The incident took place on January 21 in Rangeli, 215 km southeast of Kathmandu, when police fired at ethnic Madhesi activists to stop them from disrupting a gathering. Eight others were also injured in the firing. Amid the deepening political crisis in Nepal, US has asked Nepal Prime Minister K. P. Oli to take concrete steps to resolve the political impasse. The United Madhesi Front, which is leading the protests, wants state boundaries to be redrawn to give their communities more power. So far, more than 50 people have died in the agitation and the talks between the protesting Madhesi groups and the government have not yielded any results.
