With the Yeti dominating discourses — humorous and scientific both — courtesy the Indian Army’s tweet last week, we track the footprints of yet another mythical beast. Meet the Khenglong-po, the hairy wild man of Assam’s Karbi Anglong.
"When a movement against mob lynching is going on everywhere, it is an important development for the entire country. We could attach the details of everyone's crime and all the accused were arrested," Assam Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia said.
Karbi Anglong lynching: As on Monday evening, 23 people have been arrested in connection with the lynching. This apart, one Diphu resident was arrested on Sunday for spreading fake news regarding ‘child abductors’ on Facebook.
The order said it would have to be found out why the police took so much time to reach the spot and in spite of rumours of child-lifting, why they did not take extra precaution for people's safety as well as in anticipation of any untoward incident.
