“Around 5.56 pm, the two entered the sea and were pulled in after they lost balance. They were found at around 6.45 pm and rushed to Dr RN Cooper Hospital, where they were declared dead,” an officer said.
According to civic officials, they had deployed three beach cleaning machines, four compactors, three tractors with a trolley, one JCB along with more than 100 labourers daily for cleaning the Juhu Beach.
On the argument of the state, the bench held that “it may be true that Regulation 8 permits building in CRZ II but the same is only on the landward side of the existing road or landward side of the existing structure”.
Nazir Metar (17), the eldest son of Rafique Metar, a delivery man for ceramic tiles, was the first one to be found dead on Thursday night. Rafique recognised the black-and-white t-shirt and chappal Nazir had been wearing and identified his body.
Along with a naval diving team and lifeguards, one helicopter each from the Navy and the Coast Guard have been pressed into service to look for the youths. The fire brigade and the police are also assisting in the rescue operations.
