According to Dr Sanjay Surase, medical superintendent at JJ Hospital, patients are suffering from vomiting, lose motion, abdominal pain and dehydration. “Treatment is on. All are under observation,” he said. Few patients remain critical.
Two resident doctors, including a woman, of the J J Hospital, located in south Mumbai's Byculla area, were allegedly assaulted on May 19 by relatives of Zaida Sanaullah Sheikh (45), after she died while undergoing treatment there.
The report of the postmortem examination conducted at JJ Hospital had said that the boy died from acute respiratory distress syndrome in a case of cardiac failure. It had added that the death was due to septicemia caused by tuberculosis.
“Even though the Kalina FSL has ruled out drug overdose as the reason behind Indrani’s illness, we will wait for JJ Hospital’s discharge report, which will form the basis of our enquiry,” said an official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
