New Delhi, Feb 22 (ANI): Minister of State (MoS) for Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu on Monday asserted that the government is waiting for a calm atmosphere in order to come to a conclusion on the ongoing Jat community protests. He further stated that committee formation on the issue reflects government’s desire to come to a conclusion on the demands raised by the Jats. The Jat community is demanding reservations in government jobs and institutions.

Jhajjar, Feb 22 (ANI): The ongoing protest of the Jat community for reservations in government jobs and institutions continued on Monday as the protestors partially blocked the highway in Jhajjar, Haryana. Samjhauta Express, the train that connects India and Pakistan, was also cancelled due to the ongoing unrest. However, the NH-8 has been open for traffic but NH-1 and NH-10 are still blocked. No roads have been blocked in Gurgaon and the situation is expected to remain normal today.

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Speaking about an event at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that whatever happened at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was inappropriate. He said strict action will be taken against the anti-national elements. He added that if anyone raises anti-India slogans and tries to raise question on nation's unity and integrity, they would not be spared. Union Minister for Human Resource and Development (HRD) Smriti Irani also echoed similar sentiments, saying that academic institutions have the responsibility of following principles and thereby it should be kept in mind that institutions are respected. She added, “Nation can never tolerate any insult to Mother India:”
