The Jharkhand High Court noted that it is settled position of law that if the wife has suffered serious cruelty that makes it unsafe for her to return to her husband, the court can refuse to order her to go back and live with him.

Rajiv Gandhi assassin gets parole to attend father's last rites

Chennai, Feb 24 (ANI): Nalini Sriharan, a convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, left the Vellore jail on Wednesday to attend her father's last rites in Chennai. She was escorted by ten cops. Nalini was granted parole on Tuesday for 12 hours to attend her father's funeral, who died in Tirunelvelli. According to the parole condition, Nalini will have to report back in Vellore prison before 8 p.m. today. Nalini and three others, including her husband Murugan, were originally awarded the death sentence after they were convicted for their role in the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi and have been behind the bars for the last 25 years.
