The state government had ordered an inquiry and immediate financial assistance to families of those deceased and injured. While the first phase of providing compensation was undertaken on December 24, a week after the fire, the government has been slow in taking up cases thereafter.
A senior officer from the Delhi Fire Services said a call was received at 3.20 PM alerting them about the blaze, which intensified in the next 20 minutes. Twelve fire tenders were rushed to the spot, he said.
A fire broke out in the canteen of a government-run hospital here this morning following which nearly 100 patients were evacuated from the premises. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident, a fire official said.
