Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy’s son actor turned politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy was appointed as Karnataka JD(S) youth wing president and former MLA Madhu Bangarappa, has been elevated as JD(S) state working president from youth wing president of the party.
Among points in his letter, A H Vishwanath, an MLA from Hunsur in Mysore and a Congress leader till 2017, has cited the dominance of his bete noire and Congress leader Siddaramaiah as a reason for his resignation.
The guild strongly condemned the use of criminal defamation and other provisions of the law against the media. It demanded that the Karnataka government must immediately ensure that the FIR is withdrawn.
The FIR was registered on a complaint by a JD(S) leader, Pradeep Gowda, who accused Vishwavani and Bhat of publishing false and malicious news regarding Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil.
The senior Congress leader was canvassing for party candidate Subhash Rathod, contesting the bypoll from Chincholi assembly constituency. The Chincholi seat fell vacant after disgruntled Congress MLA Umesh Jadhav resigned from the assembly to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
HD Kumaraswamy said, "In the next election, there will be no BJP govt. We have to form govt with several regional parties together. At that time Deve Gowda may play a major role as an advisor to everybody."
The two Congress rebels — sitting MP Mudda Hanumegowda and former MLA K N Rajanna, a follower of former chief minister Siddaramaiah — filed their nomination papers despite JD(S) president H D Deve Gowda’s decision to contest from the Tumkur seat.
