The driver of the bus did not stop the conductor from smoking on the route, even as smoking in public place is prohibited under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003.
Opposing a Haryana Government decision to hire 720 buses on kilometre basis, the roadways employees had gone on strike from October 16 terming it an attempt to privatise the transport services, an allegation strongly denied by the government.
A large number of Rampal’s followers attended a protest rally of employees at Rohtak on Thursday. Khap panchayats, several social organisations and village sarpanches have already come out in support of the protest.
The roadways employees are on strike to oppose decision of Haryana government in which it had decided to hire 720 private buses on kilometre basis. The employees are terming the decision an attempt to privatise the public transport services.
