Haridwar, Feb 26 (ANI): Panic gripped Haridwar’s Motichoor area when a tiger took away a two-year-old child and killed him. Angry residents blocked the National Highway-72 for two hours and warned the forest department that such incidents should never happen again in the future. Superintendent of Police Shweta Choubey on Friday said the villagers have demanded for electric fencing throughout the forest. She further said that the villagers have also asked for compensation and the government is looking into the matter.

The imam of the madrassa Imamdul Islam, also imposed restrictions on the use of the internet. He said there was a need to exercise restraint on the use of social media. The madrassa's move over the ban on usage of mobile phones has come up after a suspect was arrested from Haridwar in connection with the recent Pathankot airbase attack.

Nothing ‘dubious’ found in bag in Kolkata

Kolkata, Jan 21 (ANI): A suspicious bag was found in a car parked outside Netaji metro station in Kolkata on Thursday. Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot to investigate the same and retrieved the suspicious bag from the car. However, nothing dubious was found in the bag. This comes hours after a suspicious bag was found at the gate of Haridwar railway station earlier on Thursday morning.

The observance of Maha Kumbh Mela has achieved international popularity as 'The biggest act of faith'. Millions of pilgrims come to participate in the holy event of Maha Kumbh with tremendous faith. The pilgrims come from all walks of life, with a belief that their sins will be washed off in the holy waters of the sacred river Ganges if they take a dip during the Kumbh. The Ardh Kumbh Mela will take place in the holy city of Haridwar from January 2016 to April 2016.
