Since June 2024, when the contract of the agency responsible for doorstep collection and processing of municipal waste was terminated, Gurgaon has been relying on stopgap arrangements, often involving migrant contract labour. The Gurgaon civic body wants RWAs to register as bulk waste generators and manage waste in-house, but many RWAs feel this won’t be feasible without support from the government
