"The political affairs committee and the legislature party wing of Goa Forward Party met today and decided unanimously to withdraw support to the Bharatiya Janata Party government led by Dr Pramod Sawant," the party's letter to the governor read.
While the Congress was struggling to stay afloat in Karnataka after the resignation of 13 coalition MLAs, it was hit by a current in Goa as 10 MLAs of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) merged with the BJP.
Confirming the move, Sawant told The Indian Express: "I have asked Goa Forward ministers and independent Rohan Khaunte to resign. Newly Inducted Chandrakant Kavlekar (of Congress) will be the new Deputy Chief Minister."
"Parrikar's health is far better compared to his stay in the AIIMS in Delhi in September this year. He is much better now compared to when we had seen him after his discharge from Delhi," Vijai Sardesai told reporters.
Around 3,000 mining-dependent people sat on a token, day-long hunger strike at the Azad Maidan in Panaji over their demand for resumption of the industry in the state. GFP and Shiv Sena leaders came out in support of the protesters.
