Gautam Gambhir

Gautam Gambhir, left-handed opening batsman and a consistent performer for Delhi at the Domestic level, averaging 50 since his first-class debut in 1999-2000. Gambhir made his one-day debut against Bangladesh in 2003, so far making 147 appearances in the format and has scored 5238 runs. In 2008, Gambhir got his first Test call and made his debut against Australia in Mumbai. After playing 58 Tests, he has managed to score 4154 runs in the longest-format of the game. He was one of the most complete batsmen between 2008 and the 2011 World Cup and opened well in all three forms of the game along side Virender Sehwag. His knocks of 75 against Pakistan in the inaugural edition of World T20 and 97 against Sri lanka in the World Cup 2011, helped India lift the trophies. The Delhi lad is the only Indian and one of four international cricketers to have scored hundreds in five consecutive Tests, while he also holds the records of scoring more than 300 runs in four consecutive Test series. Kolkata Knight Riders' skipper was lauded with Arjuna Award in the year 2008, was ranked batsman in ICC Test rankings, also was the recipient of the ICC Test player of the year award. Under his captaincy, the KKR won their maiden IPL title in 2012 and again in 2014.
