Gaurav Gogoi biography

Gaurav Gogoi is a prominent political leader from the Congress in Assam and is an incumbent MP from the Kaliabor constituency, holding the position of deputy leader of the Indian National Congress in the Lok Sabha. He was born on 4 September 1982 in Delhi. He is the son of Assam's former and longest-serving Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi.

He entered the 2014 Lok Sabha elections as a candidate for the coveted Kaliabor seat in Assam, marking the start of his political career. He initially lost the Lok Sabha elections but managed to secure a win In a by-election later that year. His involvement in national politics became more active after this, which resulted in him retaining his seat in the 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

He describes himself as a centre-left politician who supports inclusive development, equality, and social justice. He is renowned for his outspoken criticism of the current administration, especially when it comes to matters concerning growing unemployment, economic inequality, and how national security issues are handled.
