Of the total of 31,259 household idols immersed on September 9, 28 per cent or 8,873 idols were immersed in artificial ponds.

“Our observations are significant and self explanatory,” said Mahesh Shindikar, adding that the average noise levels recorded were between the range of 55 dB to 61 dB. For comparison, the average noise levels recorded were 86.2 decibels in 2019, 90.4 dB in 2018, and 90.9 dB in 2017.
