Brothers Vishnu and Sadhu Doke Lekami, sons of Gundurwahi village Patil Doke Lekami, are in contact with police. But they have not been seen in the village following an encounter between police and Maoists on April 27.
According to the villagers, one of the brothers had reportedly given a lift to senior Naxal cadre Ramko Narote and her aide Shilpa Dhurva on his motorcycle while the two ladies were walking along a road in the area before they were killed in the encounter on April 27.
The Indian Express has learnt that the target was a Quick Response Team (QRT) from the Kurkheda police station sent to investigate the torching of the vehicles at a construction site on the National Highway in the area.
A total of 40 people had died in the two operations by the Gadchiroli police on April 23 and April 24. While the first operation near Kasnasur had resulted in 34 deaths of alleged Maoists, the second at Nainar had lead to six deaths.
Gadchiroli ambush: The reports for 15 women and five men, written and signed by seven doctors at the civil hospital, reveal that most suffered multiple bullet injuries, causing ruptures in critical parts such as lungs, heart and head. All 20 were wearing green shirts and trousers, they say.
