Ceremonial reception for Hollande at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): A ceremonial reception was held at the Forecourt, Rashtrapati Bhavan, for French President Francois Hollande on Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Pranab Mukherjee, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Union Minister Prakash Javdekar and MoS Prime Minister office jitendra Singh were among the other present at the ceremony. President Hollande, who will be the chief guest for the Republic Day Parade, is on a three-day visit to India.

New Delhi, Jan 25 (ANI): French President Francois Hollande arrived in New Delhi for his two-day stay and to witness the Republic Day celebrations. Hollande began his visit with a welcome from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chandigarh, a city designed by the renowned Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. The two leaders took a tour of the Rock Garden feature, Capitol Complex and an Art Museum. Hollande will be the guest of honour at the Republic Day parade on January 26, in a sign of deepening political and commercial ties.

French tourist vows to clean Ganga

Varanasi, Jan 14 (ANI): A French tourist is actively promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Clean Ganga' campaign in Uttar Pradesh, vowing to spread the message of keeping the holy river free from impurities in rural parts of the country. Krish, who came to India to take part in the 'Kumbh Mela' or 'Pitcher Festival' last year, was concerned on seeing the condition of the river considered holy by the Hindus. Inspired by the Clean Ganga campaign, Krish took the responsibility of cleaning the river in the 3,000-year-old riverside city of Varanasi. Krish says he will soon embark on an expedition from the holy town of Rishikesh to Kolkata city by boat in a bid to spread the message of keeping the river free from impurities.
