At the investor meet on Thursday, Jaitley also said that in the last few years India’s confidence as a nation has increased tremendously and the present government has taken quick decisions whether it is implementing GST or targeting of subsidies.
"We have requested the finance minister (on the cess issue). Industry has given its memorandum and we have forwarded that to the finance minister and he is seriously considering that," said Heavy Industries Minister Anant Geete.
The PwC had issued a statement, rejecting the allegations. "We deny the allegations made. PwC has always complied and will continue to comply with applicable laws and regulations and any suggestion to the contrary is merely speculative."
Arun Jaitley had said the Centre would not fund for loan waivers for farmers, adding that the states must fund for this on their own expense. This decision comes in the wake of the loan waiver that was recently announced for the farmers by the Maharashtra government.
