Imports in May rose by 68.54 per cent to USD 38.53 billion, from USD 22.86 billion in May 2020. In May 2019, imports stood at USD 46.68 billion.

Working as manual labour in wholesale markets or processing units, these workers are engaged in loading and unloading material, transporting the finished product to godowns etc. Operations in most units can come to a grinding halt if such labour is unavailable.
