Devendra Singh is an Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He has been a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Akbarpur constituency in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament. Singh has been active in politics for several years and has been associated with the BJP for a significant part of his political career.
Born on September 11, 1960, in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh, Devendra Singh began his political journey with the BJP and has held various positions within the party at the state level. He has been actively involved in addressing the issues and concerns of his constituents and has focused on development projects in his region.
In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Devendra Singh contested from the Akbarpur constituency and won the seat, defeating his nearest rival from the Samajwadi Party by a substantial margin. His victory was part of the BJP's sweeping win in Uttar Pradesh, where the party and its allies won 73 out of 80 seats.
During his tenure as an MP, Singh has focused on various development projects in his constituency, including infrastructure development, education, and healthcare. He has been known for his efforts to address the concerns of the people in Akbarpur and for his accessibility to his constituents.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Devendra Singh successfully retained his seat in the Akbarpur constituency. He again won by a significant margin, defeating his nearest rival, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). His victory was part of the BJP's continued dominance in Uttar Pradesh, where the party won 62 seats.
