UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while speaking to news channel Times Now Monday said nothing had happened with the girls at the shelter and the then Deoria SP had wrongly compared it to the Muzaffarpur case
“We wanted what was good for her... We didn’t expect this... As soon as we read about the matter in the newspaper today, we rushed here at once,” said the uncle of a girl found in Deoria shelter home case.
A division bench of Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice Yashwant Varma issued the directive while taking suo-motu cognizance of the matter. The court has fixed August 13 for next date of hearing.
Speaking to media, Yogi Adityanath said the shelter home had been operating since 2009 and financial irregularities in 2015-2016 had been detected, following which government had ordered cancellation of its license and shifting of inmates in 2017.
Police detained five staff members from the old age home including Kanaklata Tripathi, the elder daughter of Girija Tripathi, who was arrested Monday along with her husband after 24 girls were rescued from a Deoria shelter following allegations of abuse.
