Deputy Commissioner of Police Abhishek Trimukhe said that Arbaaz Khan, the elder brother of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, has been called to join the probe Saturday.
The summon against the actor came after a bookie, Sonu Jalan, was arrested by the Thane anti-extortion cell from Kalyan on Tuesday, on charges of betting. Jalan has been sent to police custody till June 2.
Police say wanted since 1998, Mumbai cops say he was deported in 2004.
Dawood, the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai blasts, is listed as a global terrorist by the UN Security Council’s IS and al-Qaida Sanctions Committee.
The court, led by R K Agrawal, passed the order while dismissing a plea by the underworld don’s sister Haseena Parkar against attachment of the assets by the government.
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch had sought custody of Farooq, who was also an absconding accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, claiming that Farooq had helped other accused escape after the shootout at the hospital.
The case dates back to 2004 and was transferred to the CBI in 2005. A supplementary charge-sheet against Joshi and Dhariwal was filed in 2016. Also named as accused in the case are Dawood and his brother Anees Ibrahim.
UN terror list: The UN has named Ayman al-Zawahiri, Osama bin Laden’s heir apparent, as the most wanted terrorist. According to the UN, Zawahiri is still hiding “in the Afghanistan-Pakistan border area” along with several of his lieutenants.

D-Company is headed by fugitive Indian underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Wanted in India for a series of high profile crimes and terrorist attacks in places like Mumbai, Ibrahim according to US and Indian officials is now based in Karachi city of Pakistan.
During today’s hearing, the CBI prayed for Takla’s custody to be extended, saying it needed time to verify the statements he made during the interrogation. The agency also claimed that Takla was not cooperating in the probe.
Police said that Takla’s role in the gutkha case had cropped up during the confessional statement of another accused Jamiruddin Ansari alias Jumbo in 2004.

Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh Tuesday said that Kaskar was yesterday produced in a sessions court in connection with another extortion case. The court remanded him in police custody till March 6, he said.
