Darshana Jardosh biography

Darshana Jardosh, born on January 21, 1961, in Surat, Gujarat, is a Member of Parliament from the 17th Lok Sabha of India. She represents the Surat Lok Sabha constituency of Gujarat and is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member.

She was born to Kanti Naik and Amita Naik. She completed her B.Com. (Economics & Banking) from Sir K.P. College of Commerce, Surat. She also completed a Certificate Course in Computers from NIIT.

Her political career began with the Bharatiya Janata Party. She was elected to the Lok Sabha for the first time in 2009 after winning the Lok Sabha elections from Surat seat on BJP’s ticket.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, she was elected again to the position of Member of Parliament for Surat. With a historic lead of 5,33,190 votes, she emerged victorious, the largest lead ever held by a female Member of Parliament in Indian electoral history after Smt. Indira Gandhi, who had the fourth-highest lead in the 2014 elections.

She was re-elected as a Member of Parliament again in the 2019 elections to the Lok Sabha from Surat with 7,95,651 votes. She took oath as a Minister of State for Railways on 7 July 2021 during Narendra Modi’s ministry expansion at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
