Dileep Saroj, a Dalit and a resident of Pratapgarh district, was allegedly beaten up and dragged after he got into an argument with a group of youths outside a restaurant on February 9. Saroj succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Mahoba (UP), Jan 23 (ANI): Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's late reaction on Rohith Vemula's death. He said if PM Modi got so emotional and even cried over the Dalit student's death, then why there has been no action against the VC? He added that this case shows Centre's mentality towards the Dalits and the minorities.
