Along with Maharashtra, the MHA has also announced relief funds for West Bengal and Odisha, which faced super cyclone Amphan in May. In all, six states which battered natural calamities will be provided with financial assistance from the MHA.

Officials said that a large number of betel nut and coconut trees were destroyed by the cyclone in the districts of Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in the first week of June. As per existing norms, Rs 50,000 compensation is given to the affected per hectare, said an official.

Officials from the state government said that the total damages caused is Rs 6,048 crore that includes the damage to the orchards, houses along with others. As per the existing National Disaster Response Fund norms, the state government can get around Rs 360 crore as financial assistance from the Union government
