President Ram Nath Kovind asked the Vasundhara Raje-led government to make a clarification in the Act and asked them to exclude buffaloes in the list of bovine animals, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore said.
“A police team immediately raided the place and found five persons engaged in chopping meat. As the policemen entered the premises, three escaped scaling the boundary wall, but Rehan and Anees were caught. The meat and two calves tied from an iron pole were seized,” police said.
The police said they recovered the cow hide from a plot adjacent to the dhaba, following a tip-off. The person who informed them had claimed that the father had hidden the cow hide there, the SHO added.
The HC direction came after the government failed to respond to an order asking it to file a detailed affidavit on the status of the exported cows since the enactment of the Haryana Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Act, 2015 — the law which prohibits cow slaughter in the state.
